Web host and domain registrar GoDaddy has announced it has reached one million registrations of domains with the ‘.UK’ extension. GoDaddy, which has global headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona, United States, was established in 1997. The company specializes in providing small businesses with the hosting and tools they need for a cost-effective web presence. It has a global presence and is recognized as being the world’s domain name provider. By reaching one million ‘.UK’ domains registered, GoDaddy has underscored its increasingly strong position in the United Kingdom’s domain market.
The ‘.UK’ ccTLD was introduced in June 2014 as an alternative to the ‘.co.uk’ extension originally introduced to target British businesses. Other UK-themed domains include ‘.org.uk’ and ‘.me.uk’. GoDaddy’s British operations has headquarters in London and since launching in there the company has achieved a position where it now responsible for the sale of 25 per cent of the country’s ‘.UK’ and ‘.Com’ domains.
“Reaching 1 million .UK domains demonstrates the value GoDaddy brings to customers by helping them create powerful digital identities,” explained GoDaddy International’s Executive Vice President (EVP) Andrew Low Ah Kee in a company press release. “What is even more exciting to us than the milestone itself is the fact that we’ve grown our .UK domains under management by over 50 percent in the last 24 months. Our organic growth is a reflection that our purpose-built product and exceptional customer care resonate strongly with the UK market. We’re committed to growing our UK business and are excited to continue supporting the digital revolution taking place in the UK.”
